Recently, farmers prefer using young plants instead of seeds to harvest more and to obtain healthy and high quality fruits. Ege Fide was founded in 2005 in Torbalı-İzmir to meet the demands of healthy and homogenous young plants required by vegetable producers making production for agricultural industry, industry companies making production for dried tomato and tomato paste, producers making production for free market and producers making ornamental production and landscape works.
Ege Fide is located on an area with 62.000 m2 of which 20.000 m2 is closed. The nursery has a capacity of producing 90 Million young plants per year. The greenhouses are fully-automatic and climate is controlled by computer systems. The climate of germination rooms are also computerised. Depending on the varieties, appropriate temperature and humidity are provided inside the germination rooms, so the germination percentages are relatively high.
For irrigation water, reverse osmosis system is used in the nursery. By this system, harmful micro-organisms and bacterias are cleaned from the water and the water is purified to balance the harmful macro and micro elements. With this method, we are producing healthy and strong plants by increasing the quality of irrigation water.
